The Kwahu Business Advocacy Association, KBAA, has been officially launched, marking a decisive step toward strengthening organised enterprise and deepening structured policy engagement among Kwahu businesses.

The Association, registered as a non governmental organisation limited by guarantee, has been established to bring together key business owners and corporate executives of Kwahu origin to foster collaboration, coordinated engagement, and responsible advocacy in support of private sector growth.
The inauguration ceremony, detailed in the official programme , convened senior government officials, industry leaders, traditional authorities, financiers and development partners, signalling broad recognition of the Association’s national relevance.

From Informal Networks to Structured Advocacy
Speaking at the launch, the President of the Association, Mr. Kwabena Adjare Danquah, described the formation of KBAA as a deliberate transition from informal networking to disciplined, institutional engagement within a globally interconnected economy.
He noted that for generations, Kwahu entrepreneurs have built resilient and influential businesses across trade, manufacturing, finance, construction, hospitality, agribusiness, textiles, pharmaceuticals, real estate, banking, energy and communications.
“These contributions have played a meaningful role in Ghana’s economic growth and job creation. The time has come to institutionalise that legacy,” he stated.
Mr. Danquah emphasised that modern enterprise must be organised, coordinated and strategically positioned to engage government, regulators, financial institutions and development partners. He explained that KBAA has therefore been established as a non partisan, policy oriented platform to facilitate constructive dialogue and responsible advocacy.
In his President’s Message contained in the inauguration brochure , he reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to substance, credibility and disciplined leadership.
Governance Architecture and Leadership
The governance framework of KBAA reflects a blend of industrial experience and institutional depth.
The Board of Trustees and Managing Board, introduced during the ceremony , comprise prominent figures drawn from capital markets, agribusiness, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, construction, banking, logistics and international diplomacy.
This structure, organisers indicated, is designed to ensure strategic oversight, policy credibility and operational effectiveness as the Association advances its mandate.
Mandate and Strategic Priorities
According to the leadership, the Association’s priorities are clearly defined:
• Engaging policymakers through structured and evidence based dialogue
• Strengthening collaboration among members to promote enterprise continuity across generations
• Expanding access to long term capital and regional trade opportunities, particularly within the African Continental Free Trade Area framework
• Encouraging innovation and competitiveness to ensure resilience and forward looking growth
The Association also seeks to provide a national and impartial forum for dialogue among stakeholders, including government and traditional authorities, to build initiatives that foster an enabling environment for economic development.
Its focus areas, as outlined in the brochure , include enterprise development, policy roundtables, participation in international investment promotion fora, and facilitation of capital mobilisation for private sector expansion.
Government Endorsement and Energy Transition Agenda
Delivering the keynote address, the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, underscored the importance of aligning enterprise growth with global shifts in sustainability and energy transformation.
She highlighted the global energy transition as both a challenge and a strategic opportunity. The Minister referenced the accelerating adoption of renewable energy, the drive for improved energy efficiency, and the advancement of a circular economy model as defining features of the new global economic order.
According to her, these transitions are already reshaping industries worldwide, compelling governments and businesses to rethink production systems, supply chains and investment strategies.
She encouraged Ghanaian enterprises, including members of KBAA, to position themselves proactively within this evolving landscape by embracing innovation, sustainability and value addition.
Building a Unified Economic Force
The inauguration concluded with formal acknowledgements to trustees, the managing board, founding members, sponsors and partners , as well as recognition of the broader Kwahu business community whose enterprise across sectors has long shaped commerce in Ghana.
With its official launch, the Kwahu Business Advocacy Association moves beyond celebration of individual success to the construction of a disciplined and nationally engaged advocacy institution.
The objective, as articulated by its leadership, is clear: to build not merely profitable businesses, but a unified and influential economic force capable of shaping policy, unlocking capital, and contributing meaningfully to Ghana’s long term prosperity.
