Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) Ghana continued their ambitious SDGs Drive project this past Friday, May 17th, at Soul Clinic International School, building on the success of its launch in February this year. This interactive session aimed to educate and empower the basic school students on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and inspire them to develop solutions for challenges in their community.
Following their initial outreach to over 1,200 students at the Opportunities Industrialization Technical Institution in February, the YRE Ghana team reached another enthusiastic audience at Soul Clinic. Last Friday, the team focused on equipping the young minds with the knowledge and tools to become active participants in achieving the SDGs.
Led by National Operator Ms. Rosemary Balami, the team explained all 17 goals in a way students could understand, demonstrating practical ways they can take action. These goals encompass a wide range of areas, including poverty eradication, quality education, climate action, and gender equality.
YRE Ghana’s Youth Board Chair, Mr. Michael Ackon, emphasized the critical nature of the mission. “With only six years left to reach the UN’s 2030 deadline for the SDGs, it’s vital that we, the future leaders, grasp these goals and how we can contribute to their achievement,” he stated.
YRE Ghana remains committed to their mission of “empowering & inspiring action!” They actively seek partnerships and sponsors to expand their reach and ignite a global movement for the UN SDG Action Campaign.
