Absa Bank has won “Bank of the Year” for the second time in a row at the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIMG) awards, which was recently held in Ghana’s capital, Accra, and themed “Creative Marketing and Innovation in a Volatile Global Economy”.
During the fiscal year under review, the bank accomplished a number of industry firsts, including a transformative partnership with Mastercard Foundation to build the capacity of 5,000 SMEs in Ghana and create 50,000 jobs for youth within the next five years. Their recognition follows a strong performance in 2021, which ultimately resulted in a record-breaking 1.1 billion in profit before tax and 1.6 billion in revenue.
“There is absolutely no way this would have been possible without the relentless work ethic and commitment of our colleagues, management team, our board and all other stakeholders. Acknowledgments like these encourage us to do more in providing financial solutions for our customers and clients. They are the reason we are in business, “said the Managing Director, Abena Osei-Poku.
The managing director of ABSA Bank, Abena Osei-Poku also won the “Marketing Woman of the Year” award.
Dr. Daniel Kasser, President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana, has charged various industry players to rationalize their operations in light of Ghana’s economic challenges.
The Institute’s mission is to deepen the interest of the marketing profession and its members, as well as to ensure that the Institute has a positive impact in the performance of its legitimate role on Ghana’s society, economy, and the world at large.
As a result, this year’s awards seek to recognize marketing practitioners and organizations that rely on innovative strategies and modern marketing practices to achieve business success.
