Dr Kwame Addo Kufour the former top government official who served in the capacity of Minister of Defense during ex-President Kufour’s administration has been appointed and sworn in as the first chancellor of the Kumasi Technical University.
The grand event that took place on September 30, 2022 in Kumasi predictably saw esteemed individuals gracing the occasion including former President John Agyekum Kufour, Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, MP for Bosomtwe Constituency, Yaw Osei Adutwum, among others.
Speaking at the event, Dr Bawumia delivered a beautiful oration in which he commended the administration of the university for such an excellent choice of a distinguished person to serve in the enviable capacity.
“Nonetheless, I believe the University could not have picked a worthier leader than you. Your worth of experience, as a Board Chairman of Suame Magazine Industrial Development Organisation (SMIDO) indicates your in-depth knowledge and already established interest in Technical and Vocational Education,” Dr Bawumia noted.

The Kumasi Technical University, formerly known as Kumasi Polytechnic, is a public tertiary institution in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
It is one of the Polytechnics in Ghana that were famously converted into University and is located at the heart of Kumasi, the capital city of the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
