Prof Kobby Mensah Appointed CEO of Ghana Tourism Development Company

Prof Kobby Mensah has officially assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) following his appointment by President John Dramani Mahama.

Early this morning, Prof. Mensah submitted his letter of acceptance, expressing his deep appreciation to the President for entrusting him with this significant responsibility. He acknowledged the President’s commitment to integrating academic expertise with practical governance, recognizing the value of intellectual contributions to national development.

Prof. Mensah, an Associate Professor at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) and an expert in tourism marketing, brings extensive experience in both academia and industry. His leadership in initiatives such as the Destination Legon Tourism Marketing Exhibition has demonstrated his dedication to bridging the gap between education and tourism industry practice.

In his acceptance message, Prof. Mensah assured Ghanaians of his commitment to delivering results-driven leadership at GTDC. He pledged to work closely with stakeholders, respond swiftly to industry needs, and contribute to the realization of President Mahama’s vision for Ghana’s tourism sector.

“I am very much aware that the task ahead is enormous, but the opportunities are boundless. My team and I at GTDC will approach this responsibility with rapid responsiveness, collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure the vision of His Excellency to deliver the Ghana we all want is achieved. So help me God!” he stated.

Prof. Mensah also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the many well-wishers who have supported him, promising to reciprocate their kindness through dedicated service and hard work.

His appointment is expected to steer Ghana’s tourism industry towards greater growth and global competitiveness, reinforcing the country’s appeal as a premier travel destination.
