Ghana Premier League: Vision FC hold Hearts of Oak to thrilling draw

Vision FC and Hearts of Oak play out 1-1 draw.

Vision FC and Accra Hearts of Oak played out an entertaining 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema Newtown, as the Ghana Premier League entered its 27th round of fixtures. The result highlights Hearts’ inconsistent form this season, while Vision FC earned a crucial point in their fight to avoid relegation.

The Phobians took the lead in the 38th minute through Kelvin Osei Asibey, who capitalized on a defensive error by Vision’s goalkeeper. Misjudging the flight of a cross, the keeper missed his attempt to claim the ball, allowing Osei-Asibey to stretch and stab home a left-footed finish to put Hearts ahead. Despite their advantage at halftime, Hearts struggled to maintain control in the second half.

Vision FC came out stronger after the break and quickly found their equalizer. Raphael Amponsah’s misstep on the edge of Hearts’ penalty area gifted Meschack Sowah Adjetey an opportunity to curl a composed shot beyond goalkeeper Benjamin Asare. The goal marked Adjetey’s debut strike in the Ghana Premier League and gave Vision a much-needed boost.

While both teams had chances to secure a winner, neither managed to convert as the game ended in a stalemate. Substitute Emmanuel Akansase came closest for Vision with a 60th-minute effort that narrowly missed the target, while Hearts failed to capitalize on their late opportunities.

The draw leaves Hearts of Oak in sixth place with 41 points, six behind league leaders Asante Kotoko. Vision FC, meanwhile, sit three points above the relegation zone with 29 points. For Hearts, this result underscores their struggles on the road this season, while Vision will feel they deserved more after an impressive second-half display.
