A Nigerian graduate identified as Ebenezer Olaleye Olajuyin on LinkedIn has shared a rather remarkable story of how he was able to achieve his dream by simply being relentless and trying over and over despite the many rejections he got.
Olajuyin who is from Efon-Alaaye, a town in Ekiti State of southwestern Nigeria inhabited by the Yoruba people celebrated his joy on LinkedIn after getting rejected 27 times.
According to the alumnus of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, he had sent 584 emails to different professors across the world requesting for a Ph.D. position in their laboratories before landing this opportunity.
After his numerous applications, Ebenezer Olaleye Olajuyin landed a Ph.D. Scholarship at The Jackson Laboratory, Maine United States where he is now enrolled.
“It was indeed a rough and a tough journey with massive rejections, I got 27 rejections in all but I chose not to give up, I kept applying, improving my CV, gained more molecular skills, connect with various scholars for guidance, I sent 584 emails to professors across the world requesting for a PhD position in there laboratory, then came the big news…..A fully funded PhD scholarship at the University of Maine United States of America“
