Ghanaian high-life and afrobeats star Dennis Nana Dwamena, better known as KiD has paid a visit to his alma mater Accra Academy and donated the sum of GHS 15,000 to the school’s National Maths and Science Quiz focus group.
Signed to Lynx Entertainment and known globally for hits like Odo and Touch it, KiDi won the coveted ‘Artiste of the Year’ award at the 2022 Ghana Music Awards. He also won top awards including Album of the Year and Most Popular Song of the Year.
KiDi received his primary school education at St. Anthony’s School in Accra and proceeded to Accra Academy for his Senior High School education. He then went on to the University of Ghana Legon, where he graduated in 2016 with a degree in Economics and Information Studies.
Accra Academy is one of the earliest secondary educational institutions established in Ghana and operates as a non-denominational day and boarding boys’ school, located at Bubuashie, near Kaneshie in the Greater Accra Region. It was the first private academy to be established in the Gold Coast and has several notable past students like Zapp Mallet, Danny Nettey, Ben Ephson, Bola Ray, Israel Laryea naming others.
Last year, Accra Academy’s National Maths and Science Quiz team only advanced to the knockout stages, and the school has never won the trophy. Hopefully, this donation will go towards preparing the next generation of teammates to bring the tittle home.
