Amoah Sarfo Kwarteng and Umar Farouk have been declared winners of the UPSA SRC elections 2023, with their campaign slogan ‘Abandindin’ resonating with the student population. The elections, held on March 31, 2023, saw Kwarteng and Farouk receive 2057 votes, representing 55.3% of the total valid votes cast, while their opponents, Joshua Agbozo and Gifford Addison, received 1633 votes, representing 43.9% of the total valid votes cast. Kwarteng and Farouk’s victory was significant as it was achieved with a message of unity, inclusivity, and community involvement that struck a chord with students, resulting in a high turnout for the elections. The losing team displayed a sportsmanship moment by congratulating the winners in public. Other positions contested were also announced, and the Abandindin campaign theme has now become a popular slogan among the student body. Supporters of Kwarteng and Farouk have celebrated their victory on social media in grand style.
