Young Ghanaian woman Ivana Barley has graduated Cum Laude from Ashesi University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Engineering has been a male-dominated industry for many years but women today are working to break into the world of engineering, to make their marks. With access to quality education and relevant internship opportunities, much is being accomplished by women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
In a post celebrating her sister, Ivy Barley shared a picture of Ivana with the following caption:
“I’m so proud of my sister, Ivana Barley, who just graduated with honors (Cum Laude) from Ashesi University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. She has three job offers and three completed internships. With her hopes of continuing in education, research and innovation in engineering, Ivana will be a Faculty Intern at the Engineering Department at Ashesi University for her 1-year national service. #LetASisterKnow #WomeninEngineering”
Ivana is no stranger to achieving excellent academic results. In 2015, she was awarded as the best Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidate in the Adentan Municipality of the Greater Accra region. She achieved the overall best result of her year group and was awarded with a sponsorship, school supplies among others.
Ivana graduated to three job offers and will be a Faculty Intern at the Engineering Department at Ashesi University for her 1-year mandatory national service.
