Meet Thelma ‘Teetee’ Ahamba, Refugee at 9 & Fulfilled Entrepreneur at 29

Meet Thelma Teetee Ahamba, the young Liberian lady who became a refugee in Ghana yet fought against all odds to create an enviable life for herself.

At age 9, Thelma found herself in Ghana as a refugee together with her single mum and sisters at Buduburam. With the help of kind hearted people, she was enrolled in school and completed SHS at the age of 17.

The head of her basic school took responsibility for her fees seeing how brilliant she is. Her sisters chose to stay home so she could go to school since she was younger. By 24, she had completed Wisconsin University College with a degree in Marketing

All these she did with scholarships and donations from kind people. While in school, she started a small business called Ahamba Klothing and Colorful Lemonade Apparels where she does beautiful African attires for sale.

Fast forward to age 26, she got married to her husband with whom she joined forces to run the clothing business. Thelma is a full time Data and Device Specialist at Lonestar Cell MTN now and also studying for a masters degree in Management of Information Systems.

She’s currently back home in Liberia with her husband where they serve their customers in Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia and other countries. She is also the Marketing Communications Advisor for GROW Liberia where she leads marketing for the agro-processing business.

“I don’t believe in peer pressure and my mum has been so helpful” she said when asked how she grew in good character.
