St. Peter’s Senior High School, Nkwatia, have beaten the Presbyterian Boys Secondary School, Legon, to win the Senior Sharks Season 5. They become the first school from the Eastern Region of Ghana to win this intensely informative and entertaining quiz. The cast assembled for this history-making feat included Setornam, Kwasi Amo, Joshua, Emmanuel, and substitute, Elvis.
St. Peter’s win over Presec will definitely not surprise connoisseurs an awful lot as they had been tipped to bring home the title, all things considered.Unarguably, they’ve been the most consistent team in Senior Sharks 5 and boast two highest scores(240 and 220) in the competition to their credit.
In the lead up to the grand finale of Senior Sharks 5, St. Peter’s had devoured old-nemesis, Pope John SHS, decimated Season 3 semi-finalists, Keta SHS, and conquered Season 2 winners, Opoku Ware SHS.
Against a Presec side which was in the grand finale three consecutive occasions, though, many an opposing team would have cowered in their presence. But not this confraternity of Peter Claver’s sons, exhibiting neither shaking nor quaking as they positioned themselves to uproot the mighty Odade3 in this blockbuster contest.
St. Peter’s took a stranglehold on the competition from the chime of the accurate time-keeper’s bell for the contest to begin. They made very productive use of their eight set of questions in Round 1, scoring a third perfect score of eighty(80) in Senior Sharks 5.
If there was any scintilla of doubt about Presec’s formidable gravitas, however, they effectively quashed that with a super-comeback in Round 2.
That upsurge in energy will not break the resolve of the Perscodians, who came back stronger to take Round 3 while Presec imploded with a negative score. This negative score of twenty (-20) would inevitably turn out to be the albatross around the neck of the Presecans in their unsuccessful attempt at a record-breaking second Senior Sharks trophy.
Round 4, the last round to draw the curtains down on a highly successful fifth edition of Senior Sharks held an element of surprise.
With one last-ditch strength, the Blue Magicians took Round 4 by storm and scored an incredible fifty(50) points as St. Peter’s left mouths-gaping with zero(0) point. But it was too little too late for Presec, because they needed at least seventy(70) points to snatch victory from the jaws of the Crocodiles.
When the final scores was announced, St. Peter’s had won their first-ever Senior Sharks Season 5 trophy with one hundred and thirty(130) points to Presec’s one hundred and fifteen (115).A well-deserved victory for St. Peter’s SHS, but we also doff our hats to Presec, Legon. Well done!
Presec was represented by – Alexander, Tweneboa Kodua, Ernest, Augustine and super-sub, Alfred.
For winning Senior Sharks 5, St. Peter’s SHS took home the coveted Golden book of knowledge trophy, a cash prize of 15000 GHS and a complex Telescope donation worth more than GHS20,000 as part of winner’s prize.
