Last year, 2020, the 9th edition of the festival, just like other similar events, was cancelled due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, the event is scheduled for September 24-26th at the Citi Field complex in Queens, New York. Some of the performing acts are Billie Eilish, Megan Thee Stallion, Post Malone, A$AP Rocky, J Balvin, Phoebe Bridgers, Big Thief, 21 Savage, Young Thug, Burna Boy, Carly Rae Jepsen, Jamie xx, DaBaby, 100 gecs, Freddie Gibbs and the Alchemist, Orville Peck, Bartees Strange, Amaarae, MIKE, Future Islands, Leon Bridges, Duck Sauce, Dominic Fike, Burna Boy and Ghana’s Amaarae.

Late 2020, Amaarae released her album “The Angel You Don’t Know” to critical acclaim and worldwide recognition, launching her into the limelight. Her inclusion in this event therefore comes as no surprise. According to her twitter page, more events like this are lined up for her this summer.

Per reports, ticket refunds will be available if Governor’s Ball 2021 does not take place. Also, anyone with 2020 tickets can transfer their tickets to this year’s festival.
