Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh took the stage at the Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2024 in Accra, Ghana, an event that brought together key leaders and thinkers from across the continent. Invited by the President of Ghana and the Africa Prosperity Network, Kyerematen-Jimoh emphasized the crucial role of digital infrastructure in propelling Africa towards prosperity.
The overarching theme of the event, “Delivering Prosperity in Africa; Produce, Add Value – Trade,” provided a platform for Kyerematen-Jimoh to delve into the importance of Infrastructure, Innovation, and Technology as key enablers for a Single market success. Her focus, however, remained on the strategic attraction of investment for digital infrastructure.
Drawing on her expertise, Kyerematen-Jimoh underscored the necessity for African governments to be intentional about constructing a sustainable digital transformation roadmap. In her discussion, she referenced Microsoft’s 8 building blocks for a successful Digital Transformation strategy.
Specifically, she emphasized the adoption of a national cloud strategy and a cloud-first policy (Building Block 1). Kyerematen-Jimoh also highlighted the significance of a robust Data classification and security framework (Building Block 2). Countries in Africa that have embraced such policies, she noted, are witnessing enhanced efficiency and accessibility in government services.
“Cloud-first policies enable governments to leverage cloud computing for data storage, processing, and service delivery,” Kyerematen-Jimoh explained. “This, coupled with a solid data classification and security framework, forms the backbone for accelerated innovation across the continent.”
The digital transformation lead also expressed her eagerness to collaborate with the Public sector lead to further engage governments in discussions that pave the way for data-driven innovation. She particularly acknowledged Microsoft Africa’s commitment to driving these crucial conversations with governments across the continent.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this important dialogue,” Kyerematen-Jimoh remarked, reflecting on the significance of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues. Her insights and advocacy for strategic digital transformation have added a valuable perspective to the ongoing discourse on advancing Africa’s prosperity through technological innovation.
