From struggling to pay admission fees to president-elect: The extraordinary story of ATU student Stephen Mensah

A young Ghanaian gentleman who is a student at Accra Technical University is achieving a lot for himself as a learner with the latest being President Elect for Procurement and Supply Department of his institution.

Before that, Stephen Mensah was awarded as the Best Course Rep, Council Member and Personality of the Year Procurement Department at different times in his learning journey.

Speaking to Edwardasare.com, Stephen indicated that it all started from a humble background but he was able to achieve his feats with hark work, respect and humility.

Hardwork, respect and humility has always been my hallmark. In 2021, before I got into tertiary things were a bit difficult. Due to that paying of my admission delayed but with the help of the Almighty God I was able to register and I am almost in my final year as at now reading procurement.

I used my social media influence/account to make some money to support my education. I started as a course rep and I always performed my assigned duties very well. Fast forward I was nominated for Personality of the year level 100 in my department, the maiden edition of Classic Award ATU which I emerged as the winner,” he said.

At the end of that semester, he was awarded and given a certificate of council membership. On 3rd August, 2022, Stephen got nominated for best course rep and emerged as the winner.

To this, he said:

I believe I achieved all this through hard work, respect and my good social relationship with the pupil of Accra Technical University. I wanted to take my service to the next level so I contested for the position of PASSAG president. God been so good we won the elections. On 17th August, 2022 at 10pm, I was declared PASSAG president elect for 2022/2023 ATU chapter. “

In conclusion, Stephen believes he achieved all this through hard work, determination, being humble and doing the right things at the right time and never forgetting God in everything he does.
