The rise of Glenda: From PA to Customer Service and Experience Professional

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. This is literally the saying that describes Glenda Beryl Benedictta Acquaye.
Glenda who until recently worked with the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) as a Manager with the Corporate Affairs Division started her career as a secretary at Africa Bagg Limited from 1996 to 1998.
Prior to that, she did her national service at GOPA Waste Management in Accra.
Success does not happen overnight, it takes diligence and commitment. Glenda exhibited these and many more professional qualities as she went about her daily duties.
In 2001, Glenda left Ghana Conservation Trust where she was the private secretary to the board and moved to BKB Couriers Ghana Limited. Here she worked as the personal assistant and office manager to the Director. She left the courier company in 2003.
In April 2004, she started a new job as the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director at Standard Chartered Bank in Accra. She had not stayed as long as she did at the bank in any other company.
However, her role and job description kept changing as Glenda aspired and worked towards higher positions in the bank.
She worked at Standard Chartered Bank from April 2004 to September 2018. During this time she moved from Executive Assistant to Client Service Manager then to Key Client Service Manager and finally became Head, Client Services Group and Cluster Mentor for Africa.
Some of her achievements while she worked with Standard Chartered Ghana include the setup of Client Services Group (CSG) in Standard Chartered Bank Brunei and Angola in June 2017 and May 2016 respectively.
Other accomplishments include the expansion of her leadership portfolio to include an oversight role of Gambia, Sierra Leone, Cote d’Ivoire and Cameroun. Glenda also trained some Heads of Client Service from other countries.
In 2021, Glenda became the Corporate Support Services Manager at State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA). She worked there till March 2022.
It is worthy to note that, it was while at Standard Chartered that she got her first degree from the University of Ghana, Legon. A few years after she also got her second degree from Central University.
Her first degree was in history and religion while her Master’s degree was in Business Administration. Prior to both degrees she had a DBS certificate from Archbishop Porter Girls Polytechnic in Elmina. She attended Krobo Girls Secondary School for GCE.
