Dancehall Legend Samini Wins GIMPA SRC ‘22 Presidential Elections

Many A-List Ghanaian celebrities have passed through the corridors of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. Typically, they work towards their academic degrees and graduate to continue with their various works. This time around, one such celebrity has decided to contribute some changes to the institution before he leaves. Legendary Ghanaian Dancehall / Regae artiste Emmanuel Andrews Samini popularly known in showbiz as Samini has won the 2022/2023 Student Representative Council (SRC) Presidential elections of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. He polled 307 votes to beat his only opponent Theophilus Quartey who polled 211 votes.

Samini will have Mabel Mensah as his Vice-president and his work cut out for him consider the promises and assurances he gave the student body prior to winning. Even though one of the disqualified aspirant from the Law Faculty, Fred Amese secured an interlocutory injunction on Wednesday 22nd June, 2022 prohibiting the conduct of the election, it did not deter organisers of the election from holding it.

Another hurdle was the rumours of plans to rig the election in favour of Samini, rumours the artist refuted.

The musician is currently reading Business Administration at GIMPA. Samini revealed about two weeks ago in a Twitter post that he was going to contest for the position of the SRC President in the coming elections. Now, he has contested and won.
