EDMA OHEMAA LAWER: A BEAUTIFUL ENIGMA

Edma Ohemaa Lawer is a news anchor and TV presenter at one of Ghana’s leading media houses, GHOne TV. She hosts TLS, a lifestyle show on Saturday mornings on this same network. Edma appeared on the media scene in Ghana and has been a beautiful enigma to fans and Ghanaians who watch television. In an up close and personal interview, we bring you Edma Ohemaa Lawer.

After moving to the U.K. from France at the age of 15, Edma is a product of the education systems of both countries with a degree from the University of Plymouth in BSc (Hons) Oil and Gas Management and a Master degree from the University of Westminster in MA International Relations And Democratic Politics.

Apart from anchoring news and presenting at GHOne TV, Edma is also the founder of YEWGlobal, an NGO and Eldon, an oil, gas and mining consultancy firm. Though she grew up wanting to be an Egyptologist because of her love and passion for ancient history or an engineer, she is poised to take the African media world by storm.

Being the ambassador of Project sole for soles, she has traveled across Africa to help the girl child denied access to education because of her gender. The project has had major impact especially in Nigeria where they educated, impacted and informed many families in rural areas and got them to send their girl child to school.

She describes her move to Ghana from the U.K. two years ago as having been an insightful experience with many challenges adapting to the work ethics of Ghana and the systematic behavior of the people.

She had to start getting used to the new environment by understanding the system, the government and then, the people without forgetting the cultural and traditional aspects to the day to day lives.

She firmly believes that knowledge and wisdom comes from God and always prays for protection, good health and guidance be granted her to do what she intends doing as she has many plans for the foreseeable future.
